   Deep Chand

Deep Chand's Story

I am Deep Chand. I come from Uttar Pradesh. My father is a farmer. Even though we were Christian family, we observed all gods and goddesses. When I was 12 years old I began to drink with my friends. My parents were very worried. Seeing my condition my father sent me to my grand parents' house in a village. I began to work with my uncle in the field.

One evening while I was sitting at a road side, I began to think I would leave the home and go some where. I began to think about the very purpose of life. Every one will have to die. After death what? This question began to haunt me day after day. I began to seek an answer for the question.

It was this time one missionary from Mizoram Rev. Johmingthanga came to our village. I went to him and asked him to answer my question. He told me to come to the church on Sunday and he would talk to me. I went on Sunday and he shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with me. One day the evangelist came to my house to conduct the prayer meeting. While sharing the Word, he told about the Love of God and the life of Jesus Christ and how he died for our sins. I began to hear the Word. He said, if anyone believes in the Lord he will receive the salvation of God. I accepted the Lord on that day. The Lord transformed me and gave me peace in my heart. In 1997 I was baptised by Rev. Babu Samuel. After this conversion, I went back to the school and completed my XII std in 2003. I was sent by my pastor to Mizoram to study the Word of God for 6 months. After completing I was appointed as the evangelist in Etawah area. I felt the need of studying more. My church allowed me to go to Allahabad Bible College for B.Th studies. I thank god for giving me this opportunity to study his Word. After graduation I want to become a missionary in North India.
