   Hezekiah Taku

Hezekiah Taku's Story

I am 36 years old. My wif's name is Milcah Getty. We are both from Guadalcanal Province. We have three children – Marcus(10) Hazel (7) and Manoah (5).

Since I come from a Christian family I was exposed to the Gospel at an early age. My parents taught me a lot from the Bible, but it was only after I was old enough to attend Sunday School that I finally gave my life to the Lord. In1991, I made a public confession of faith by undergoing the waters of baptism.

In 1998 I was employed by Gold Ridge Mining Ltd where I worked as a Mining Operator for 3 years. The company shut down operations in 2000 at the height of ethnic violence. The following year I enlisted in the Royal Solomon Islands Police as a Special Constable, but after a year and a half, the unit had to be disbanded on recommendations by the UNDP. Nevertheless, God had other plans for me. I did some theological studies through Alan Walker Bible College, Haggai Institute and Denton Bible Church. I also served as a pastor and teacher in our local South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC). I did lots of ministry among the youths, families and church through counselling, pastoral, teaching and seminars.

The need for more Biblical training led me to CLTC. I am now in my 2nd year of B. Th Studies(Bachelor of Theology). After completing my studies l will return to Guadalcanal to serve as a pastor and Bible teacher.
