Melanesian Faculty Upgrade
CLTC is a major evangelical college in PNG, training over 100 students
from many denominations.
The Melanesian faculty comprise about half the permanent lecturers.
Other permanent lecturers are from Australia, New Zealand and the
US. Short-term lecturers come from overseas.
There is a great need to keep raising the standard of the Melanesian
lecturers.
This Faculty Upgrade program is designed to assist several of the
Melanesian lecturers to attain the level of Masters degrees and
in one case a PhD.
Bigger than just CLTC
This OCA supported upgrade program will, include more than just
the faculty members of CLTC. The need is great to help develop a
new generation of competent senior leaders across the whole country.
This program will be modular (one month at a time) and based in
the CLTC campus near Mt Hagen. This will allow leaders to remain
in PNG and not have to live overseas. This keeps them enculturated
in the country, does not disrupt their families and is far more
cost effective. In this way their studies are integrated with their
lecturing in a more holistic way.
OCA will provide funds for tuition, travel and accommodation of
students. In the local context this is considered appropriate.
